Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • Three years of attendance at an accredited college or university, four years is recommended.
  • For international students, one year of study must be completed in an American or Canadian university prior to application.
  • The following year-long (6-8 credits) courses must be completed including their respective laboratory components:
    • General Biology or Zoology
    • General Chemistry
    • Organic Chemistry
    • General Physics
  • All applicants must submit an AMCAS profile.
  • The MCAT is required, and must be taken between April 2005 and July 2008 for EDP applicants and between April 2005 and September 2008 for regular MD applicants.

Criteria

Required classes

  • CEGEP level:
    • Biology 301 and 401
    • Chemistry 101, 201 and 202. It is highly recommended that Organic Chemistry II also be completed.
    • Math 103 and 203
    • Physics 101, 201, 301
  • Applicants must have a university bachelor's degree in a biological- or health-science field.
  • Applicants must have completed their previous studies as full time students and in the period of time normally allotted to do so.

Supporting Documents

  • A copy of the applicant�s cumulative grades is required. This includes high school, CEGEP, and university grades.
  • A formal application form must be submitted.

French language conditions

  • Applicants must pass the "Épreuve uniforme de langue et littérature française du ministere de l'Education du Quebec" OR
  • Applicants must obtain a minimum of 850/990 on the Test de français international (TFI).

Tuition

  • Tuition (per session) for a full time Canadian student is $834.15.
  • Tuition (per session) for a full time foreign student is $4,269.15.
  • Students who must rent an apartment should estimate that their living expenses will be $1000/per month.

Statistics

  • For the fall 2006 semester, a total of 2050 applications were made for the 250 places available.
  • 2/3 of students who enter the M.D. program have completed their 1 year pre-med program at Université de Montréal.
  • Only 1/3 of students who enter the M.D. program are holders of a B.Sc. and have not completed the pre-med program.
