Program Information

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • 4 year program
  • Since it is a state university preference is given to Michigan residents. However out of states applicants and Canadian citizens are accepted as well.
  • About 20% of the entrance class was out of state/Canadian.
  • Class size in 2009: 290

  • Required Courses
    • Biology or zoology (6 credits) with lab
    • Inorganic Chemistry (6 credits) with lab
    • Organic Chemistry (6 credits) with lab
    • General Physics (6 credits) with lab
  • Average GPA for the entering class of 2008: 3.65

  • MCAT is required.
  • All applicants must have completed their MCATs by Sept, 2010.
  • Scores prior to 2007 will not be accepted.
  • The average MCAT score for the entering class of 2009 was 10.05/per section.

Secondary Application

  • Mailed to you, fee $ 50.
  • 3 recommendation letters (at least two from Faculty members)
  • 2-3 Essays
  • After the completion of this, interview invitations are given out.

  • Lasts about an hour
  • It is conducted by a member of the Admissions Committee.
  • An hour tour of the school is included.

  • October 1, 2010: Early Decision Applicants Notified of acceptance
