Course and Degree Requirements

  • A 4-year Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • No prerequisite course
  • However a mixture of biological/medical science courses as well as social sciences/humanities courses are recommended

  • Minimum: 3.70 (for both Southwestern Ontario residents and non residents)

MCAT

For Southwestern Ontario Residents

  • Minimum scores:
    • Biological Sciences: 8
    • Physical Sciences: 8
    • Verbal Reasoning: 8
    • Writing Sample: O
  • Combination of these scores must be 30 or more.

For Southwestern Ontario Non-Residents

  • Minimum scores:
    • Biological Sciences: 10
    • Physical Sciences: 9
    • Verbal Reasoning: 11
    • Writing Sample: O
  • Test must have been written within 4 years of application deadline

Supporting Documents

  • 3 letters of recommendation from individuals whom the applicant believe will give a critical assessment
  • MCAT scores
  • CPR Basic Rescuer Course (Level C) before enrolment in the medical program

Interviews

  • Standardized 45-minute interviews with a panel of three: one faculty member/physician, one senior medical student, and one community representative.

Timeline

  • September 15, 2012: Deadline to register for OMSAS online application
  • October 1, 2012: Last date to submit applications (all transcripts and documents must be submitted)
  • February, 2013: Minimum GPA and MCAT scores are posted. Interview invitations are sent.
  • March 2-3 and April 6-7, 2013: Interviews are held.
  • May 14, 2013: First round of Offers of Admission
