Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study in Canada (any discipline)
  • Required Courses
    • Life Sciences (12 credits)
    • Social Sciences, Humanities or Languages (6 credits)
  • Recommended Courses
    • Statistics (3 credits)
    • Courses that required expository writing (12 credits)

GPA

  • Minimum: 3.6 (4.0 scale)
  • Average accepted GPA 2012: 3.90
  • Calculation method:
    • GPA will be calculated by eliminating one full-course (6 credits) grade per full year of study.
    • If applying after three years of full-time study, the lowest 3.0 courses (18 credits) will be removed.
    • If applying after completion of four years of full-time study, the 4.0 courses (24 credits) will be removed
    • Summer courses are not included in GPA calculation, though they may count towards prerequisites

Interview

  • approximately 550 candidates will be invited
  • Late February – mid April
  • Interviews are conducted at the Faculty of Medicine by a member of the Faculty and a current medical student

  • Sept. 15, 2012: Deadline to create OMSAS account
  • Oct. 1, 2012: Deadline to submit applications
  • Oct. 1, 2012: All transcripts and academic documents must be received by OMSAS
  • Oct. 5, 2012: Deadline for receipt of payments
  • Oct. 11, 2012: Deadline to relese MCAT scores to OMSAS
  • Dec. 7, 2012: Deadline for receipt at OMSAS of all reference letters
  • May 14, 2013: First offers of admission
  • Mid June: Deadline to accept offers of admission
  • June 28, 2013: All transcripts must be received by OMSAS
