Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • Accepted 224 students for 2007 entry.
  • Receive over 2500 applications each year.
  • Offer up to 7 positions each year to non-Canadian/non-permanent residents

Criteria

Course Requirements

  • two full-course equivalents in Life Sciences
    • Chemistry and Organic Chemistry are not Life Sciences and are not required
  • One full-course equivalent in the Humanities or Social Sciences or Languages
  • Recommended but not required, one course in Statistics
  • At least two full-courses that require expository writing

GPA

  • Minimum: 3.6 (4.0 scale)
  • Calculation method:

MCAT

  • Below 9 in any category and below N essay marks is unacceptable
  • The MCAT results are valid only if it has been written 5 years prior to the application deadline.

Supporting Documents

  • An essay of 1000 words or less about your personal and academic background
  • An outline of your activities e.g volunteering, employment etc.
  • 3 references, who provide a narrative statement and complete a standardized form.
  • Official transcripts from universities attended.

Deadlines

  • Application deadline is on October 15
  • The application form and all other required documentation is due on February 1st of the admission year.
  • Initial offers of admission to Ontario medical schools for August 2007 entry will be sent May 15, 2007.

Tuition

  • Tuition is about CAD 16000 per year.
  • All first year applicants are automatically considered for most entrance scholarships upon acceptance.
  • Other scholarships are available which require additional application forms.
