Program Information

• Doctor of Medicine(MD) - Four year postgraduate degree will begin first intake in 2011
• 250 local and 80 international students will be taken in
• Offers are given by a ranked list where ranks by GPA, GAMSAT/MCAT and interview are given equal weighting

Course and Degree Requirements

• Degree: Minimum of a three-year or more year bachelor’s degree from approved institutions
• Required courses:
  • Anatomy (3 credits)
  • Physiology (3 credits)
  • Biochemistry (3 credits)

• GPA is calculated for the last 3 years of study with the years progressively weighted x1, x2, x3.

• Application can be made through GMAC online admission system or direct to the University’s International admissions
• No C.V. or references or testimonials are used in the selection process and should not be submitted or brought to interview

Interview

• Held in late September or early October 2010 at the University of Melbourne. Arrangement for interviews for international places are still to be finalised
• Multi-Mini-Interview format (MMI)
• International applicants who meet the minimum GPA requirement and minimum GAMSAT or MCAT cut-off are invited for interview

• May, first week 2010 – ACER online applicants for 2009 entry open
• June 2010 – last acceptable MCAT held
• late June 2010 – deadline for international applicants
• late Aug 2010 – offers of interview made
• late September -> early October 2010 – interviews
• early Nov 2010 - Offers will be made
• Jan 2011 - enrolment
