Program Information

  • Degree offered: MD (4 years in length)
  • Other Degree offered: MD/PhD (6-7 years), Master of Public Health, Masters in Health Policy Management
  • Class size in 2009: 2200 applications for a class of 175.
    • Of the 1800 non-resident applicants, approximately 100 were interviewed and 30 accepted.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of United States; Priority given to Kansas residence
  • Application through AMCAS
    • Past employment/volunteer experience in health care system is expected from applicants

  • Required Courses
    • General Biology (with lab) - 2 semesters
    • Inorganic (General) Chemistry (with lab) - 2 semesters
    • Organic chemistry (with lab) - 2 semesters
    • Physics (with lab) - 2 semesters
    • English composition or writing-intensive courses - 2 semesters
    • Mathematics - 1 semesters
  • Recommended Courses
    • Biochemistry, Genetics, Natural science, Social sciences, Humanities, Oral and written communication, and other upper-level biology
