Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Degree: 99% of students have a baccalaureate degree, although one is not required.
- complete 120 semester hours at an accredited college prior to matriculation.
- Required Courses (1 semester hour = 1 McGill credit)
- 8 semester hours - biology (with lab),
- 8 semester hours - general chemistry (with lab),
- 8 semester hours - organic chemistry (with lab), and
- 8 semester hours - general physics (with lab),
- 9 semester hours - English literature/composition
- 6 semester hours - College level mathematics (algebra and above).
- Recommended Courses
- Any courses in biochemistry, computer sciences, genetics, humanities, and social sciences.

- Accepted no more than three years prior to matriculation
- If the student takes the MCAT multiple times, the Admissions Committee will use THE BEST ONE TIME COMPOSITE SCORE from that sitting

Supporting Documents
- Letters of Recommendation:
- Three to five letters are required
- Two must come from science faculty and one must come from non-science faculty
- A $100 application fee is necessary to complete the process.
- The following essay is required ALL applicants for the 2009-2010 application year:
- "People take different (and sometimes difficult) paths on their journey to becoming a doctor. Tell us (a) about hardships you have overcome or challenges that you have faced in arriving at this point in your life, or (b) to the extent that these circumstances don’t apply to you, please describe experiences you have had which help you appreciate the challenges faced by individuals in these situations. Your discussion might include such things as family or personal health challenges, being from an economically disadvantaged background, having lived in a very rural or underserved community, being the first in your family to attend college, or speaking English as a second language"

Interview
- Two 30 minute interviews
- After October 15th, acceptances are offered to the top ranked candidates on a monthly basis until the class is filled

Timeline 2010-2011
- The AMCAS on-line application is open to applicants on June 1.
- June 1 – Earliest filing date with AMCAS, latest date for filing November 1
- August 1 – Earliest filing date for Colorado’s Secondary Application, latest date is December 31
- Late September to early March – Interviews on campus occur during this time frame
- October 16 – First offers of acceptance, and mid-month thereafter until the class is filled
- Early March – class selected
- May 15 – only one medical school acceptance may be held
