Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study in any major. Recommended at least 4 year baccalaureate degree
- Required Courses
- General Chemistry (1 year) with labs
- Organic Chemistry (minimum of two quarters)
- Physics (1 year) with labs
- General Biology (1 year) with lab and study of vertebrate zoology
- Note – courses in vertebrate embryology, genetics, cell physiology, or comparative vertebrate anatomy with labs can satisfy the General Biology requirement
- AP credits can be used to satisfy General Chemistry and Physics requirements if the credit is verified on your college transcript.

Interview
- Interviews are designed to provide a chance for applicants to ask questions, sit-in on a class and meet current students, staff and faculty.
- About 500 are selected to interview
- Student housing is available.
- Two interviews are granted to the interviewees. Average interview lasts 40 minutes with at least one of the interviewers being a member of the faculty and the other, a current medical student.

Timeline 2013-2014
- May 2013: Primary application is available via AMCAS.
- June 5, 2013: Applications may be submitted to AMCAS.
- June 29, 2013: AMCAS begins to forward applications to UCSF.
- October 15, 2013: AMCAS application due - final deadline for UCSF.
- December 2013 - April 2014: UCSF has a rolling admissions policy, which means that applicants may be advised of decisions regarding acceptance any time any time between December 15 and May 1. The date of the application does not determine when a decision will be reached.
- May 2014: Applicants who are placed on the alternate list will be notified of that status by early May and may receive notification of acceptance as withdrawals occur, typically between May 15 and August 1.
- September 2014: Class begins with an introduction to UCSF and the Essential Core Curriculum.
