Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 90 credits taken at post-secondary institution – any degree
  • Required Courses
    • English (6 credits) - contact UBC academic advisors for McGill course equivalency
    • Biology (6 credits) with labs
    • General Chemistry (6 credits) with labs
    • Organic Chemistry (6 credits) with labs
    • Biochemistry (6 credits)
    • Note – AP/IB credits can be claimed for English/Biology/General Chemistry if minimum grades are achieved
      • Biology – AP grade of 4 or higher, IB Higher Level grade of 6 or higher
      • Chemistry – AP grade of 4 or higher, IB Higher Level grade of 6 or higher
      • English – AP grade of 4 or higher, IB Higher Level grade of 5 or higher
  • Recommended Courses
    • Behavioural sciences, biometrics, statistics and physics

GPA

  • Minimum CGPA: 70% or 2.8/4.0
  • Average CGPA for interviewees 2013: 85%
  • Average CGPA for entering class 2013:87%
  • Calculation method:
    • Three GPA evaluations: Overall CGPA, and Prerequisites average
    • Overall CGPA includes summer and graduate courses with grades
    • Repeated courses will be averaged for prerequisites average

  • Application fee of $105 for BC applicants, $155 out-of-province applicants, and $30 for out-of-province applicants
  • One official transcript for all previously attended post-secondary institutions
  • One official transcript (or interim transcript) for post-secondary institution(s) currently attending
  • Proof of registration for prerequisite courses to be completed by April 30, 2011 (if courses are not listed on interim transcript)
  • One official AP or IB transcript (from non-UBC/UBCO students who wish to claim AP or IB credit towards prerequisite course requirements).
  • Citizenship documentation (required if born outside of Canada)
  • One secondary school transcript (if applicable, as per BC Residency Definition)
  • Valid official MCAT score (between April 2006 and September 2010 inclusive) report(s) released to UBC online via AAMC's MCAT Test History (ThX) System

Interview

  • Feb. 12-13, 26-27, 2011: Interview dates. Four interview cycles each day, two in the morning and two in the afternoon
  • Interviews follow Multiple Mini-Interview; applicants rotate through 11 different stations.
  • Must provide at the interview:
    • Proof of Identification – government issued photo ID
    • Two passport sized photos (colour) with the applicant’s full name printed at the back
  • Location is at Life Sciences Centre Building, 2350 Health Sciences Mall, Vancouver, BC.

  • June 10, 2013: 2010/11 Online Application becomes available at the UBC website
  • Sept. 16, 2013: All applications completed including application fees, and all supporting documents must be received by 1 pm
  • Oct. 1 2010: Deadline for all valid MCAT
  • Early December 2013: Interviews Sent out
  • Mid-Dec. 2013: Deadline to book interview
  • Feb. 8-9, 15-16, 2013: Interview dates
  • Feb. 21, 2013: Supplemental Application Deadline
  • April 30, 2013: Course Completion. All prerequisites courses by this date
  • May 15, 2011: Notification of admissions decisions
  • June 30, 2011: All successful and waitlisted applicants must submit final transcripts
