Program Information

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • 4 years in length
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant by application deadline

  • Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study in Canada (any discipline)

GPA

  • Minimum: None indicated by the University
  • Calculation method:
    • GPA will be based by first considering the cGPA for all years of undergraduate studies. However, if applicants do not meet this cut-off, the two most recent years will be considered.

  • Minimum scores: None indicated by the University
  • Even though there is no restriction to the number of times a student has written the MCAT, all scores must be declared to OMSAS.
  • Only the best test results will be taken into consideration

Supporting Documents

  • Autobiographical sketch – outline of extra-curricular activities (with contact information)
  • References (must provide 3) – referees must write a narrative statement and complete a standardized form
    • at least one must referee should be a non-academic/character referee
  • Official transcripts from universities attended

Interview

  • Interviews are conducted at the School of Medicine by a member of the Faculty and a Student member.
  • Interview itself is around 30 minutes.

Timeline

  • Mid July, 2010: OMSAS application becomes available online
  • Sept. 15, 2010: Deadline to create OMSAS account
  • Oct. 1, 2010: Deadline to submit applications
  • Oct. 1, 2010: All transcripts and academic documents must be received by OMSAS
  • Oct. 6, 2010: All cheques/money orders must be received
  • Oct. 13, 2010: Deadline for MCAT scores to be released to OMSAS
  • Dec. 1, 2010: Deadline for reference forms
  • May 5, 2011: First offers of admission
  • June 30, 2011: All transcripts must be received by OMSAS

Tuition 2010-2011

  • First year tuition (Domestic student): $ 16,742.00 - 18,228.00 (depending on when the applicant registered)
  • Total first year fees (Domestic student) - $ 17,888.40 - 19,438.40 (depending on when the applicant registered)
  • First year tuition (International student) - $ 65,000 (any registration date)
  • Total first year fees (International student) - $ 66,146.40 - 66,210.40 (depending on when the applicant registered)
