Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • International applicants are encouraged not to apply
  • Combined programs offered: MD-MPH and MD-PhD.

Criteria

  • NYU SOM requires at least three years of college work but recommends completion of four years of undergraduate study and a baccalaureate degree.

Required classes

  • minimum six (6) credits of English
  • minimum six (6) credits of general Biology or Zoology
  • minimum six (6) credits of introductory inorganic chemistry with laboratory work
  • minimum six (6) credits of organic chemistry with laboratory
  • minimum six (6) credits of general physics with laboratory
  • additional courses in the biological and quantitative sciences are recommended

The Medical College Admissions Test

  • Test results within the last three years are valid

Supporting Documents

  • American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). Applications are submitted electronically and can be accessed at www.aamc.org.
  • Letters of recommendation (minimum of three)

Application submission deadline: October 15th for AMCAS application
