Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Canada or U.S is recommended.
  • Required Courses:
    • English 2 semesters (or equivalent or successful completion of the English requirement(s) at your undergraduate institution)
    • General Biology with lab, 2 semesters (or equivalent)
    • Physics 2 semesters with lab (or equivalent)
    • General Chemistry with lab, 2 semesters (or equivalent)
    • Organic Chemistry with lab, 1 semester only (or equivalent)
    • Biochemistry 1 semester with or without lab (or equivalent)

  • Secondary Application + non-refundable fee of $120
  • Letters of Evaluation:
    • One letter of evaluation from premedical committee; OR,
    • 3 letters of evaluation:
      • Two must be from science professors who have taught the applicant or have supervised independent research and one from a non-science faculty member
      • One letter of evaluation must be from the department in which the applicant majored - whether science or non-science
  • Employment references, personal references, and references from volunteer work are not substitutes for academic references but can be submitted as supplements to the required references.
  • If the applicant has attended graduate school, a letter from a faculty member in the applicant's department major in addition to the undergraduate letters described above are required.

Interview

  • After the application is complete, the NYMC invites, for personal interview, those applicants under serious consideration.
  • Interviews are generally conducted from mid-September through April. The interview day program runs from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.
  • NYMC uses the MMI format: Applicants cycle through 8 different scenarios, each 2 minutes of preparation and 6 minutes of discussion
