Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • General goal of the program is to ensure their graduates to have a full grasp of the medical sciences in all backgrounds, using the latest research in cognitive psychology to utilize the most effective methods to provide first-class education.
  • McMaster also has a M.D/Ph.D option: this allows clinical-physicians to pursue research in their respective fields

Criteria

GPA and credit minimums must be met

Required Classes

  • By June 30, 2009 applicants must have completed a minimum of three years of undergraduate degree work (30 half year credits or 15 full year credits or a combination).

Note: Applicants who have not completed 30 credits by the time of the application date must present their final transcript with course codes and grades to McMaster by June 30, 2009. This will be considered as a proof that the prerequisites are met.

  • Students with a CEGEP diploma must accomplish at least two additional years (20 half year credits) of degree credit work at an accredited university by June 30, 2009.
  • Applicants who have completed their Bachelor degree in less than 3 years by the time of the application deadline are also qualified to apply if have the average GPA of 3.00.
  • There is no requirement that the applicant must carry a full course load
  • No required pre-requisites

GPA

  • Applicants' entire academic career is evaluated into a cumulated GPA calculated by the Medical school
  • By October 1, 2008 applicants must have attained an overall GPA of 3.00 on the 4.00 point scale.

MCAT

  • The MCAT (Medical College Admission Test) is currently not required for Medical School provided at McMaster University.

  • Year 1: 16 848

Tuition for non-Canadians:

  • Year 1: $91,137
