Deadlines

  • September 1st: Applications become available for next year. Applications can be downloaded, printed, and then mailed.
  • October 31st: Application deadline. All applications must be postmarked by this date.
  • December 16th to 20th: Email interview notices sent out to Maritime applicants. Emails are also sent to all ineligible applicants.
  • Early January: Email notices for interviews sent out to selected non-Maritime applicants. Email notifications also sent to all �non-competitive� non-Maritime applicants
  • January-February: Interviews for Maritime applicants begin. All interviews will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • February-June: Admissions Committee begins to meet; decisions will be mailed to accepted and not accepted applicants on the last Wednesday of every month. Committee meetings continue until all spaces are filled; wait lists are set by end of June.
  • Mid-April: Non-Maritime files are reviewed and decision letters are mailed out at the end of the month.
  • July 31st: Deadline to submit applications for entrance scholarships and bursaries.

Profile of the accepted applicants for the Medicine program in September 2006:

  • 657 applications received
  • All 286 Maritime applicants who met the minimum requirements were offered an interview.
  • In the Non-Maritime group, 50 applicants were offered an interview.
  • In the class of 2010, 55 students are from Nova Scotia, 19 students are from New Brunswick, while 7 students are from PEI. A total of 9 students were admitted this year from the Non-Maritimes provinces, all of whom were from Ontario.
  • The average age is 25 years.
  • GPA scores ranged from 3.2-4.0 (on a 4.0 scale), with an average score for the accepted class of 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • There are 52 females (57%) and 40 males (43%) in the class of 2010.
  • In the class there are 29% of the students who have graduate degrees, 1 of which is a PhD.
  • In the class of 2010, 32 students (35%) submitted applications in previous years.
