WCMC offers the following programs:

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Required courses:
    • Biology(6 credits) with labs
    • Physics (6 credits) with labs
    • Chemistry (6 credits) with labs
    • Organic chemistry (3 credits required, 6 recommended) with lab
    • An advanced biology or chemistry course (6 credits)
    • Writing-intensive courses (6 credits)
      • One course on the humanities or social sciences
      • One course on English-language literature
  • AP credits may only be used to satisfy the requirement for physics.
  • The minimum grade needed to fulfill a requirement is a “C”
  • Students not majoring in the basic sciences should pursue at least an extra two terms in the biological sciences

MCAT

There are no cut-offs for MCAT scores. Average MCAT scores for class of 2008:

  • Verbal – 10.9
  • Physical Sciences – 12.0
  • Biological Sciences – 12.1

Supporting Documents

  • AMCAS application (cost is $75).
  • Letters of Evaluation
    • If your university has a preprofessional advisory committee, you will need to submit a letter from it, or a letter explaining why a letter from this committee could not be obtained.
    • If your university does not have a preprofessional advisory committee, you will need to submit two letters of recommendation.
    • If you have completed any considerable volunteering, work, or research, a letter should be submitted from your supervisor.
  • Supplemental Application Form
    • Received only once the AMCAS application is received by WCMC.

  • Interviews will occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Timeline

  • August 1: AMCAS application due for Early Decision
  • October 15: AMCAS application due for all other applicants
  • October 15: Completed application due for MD/PhD program
  • November 15: completed application due for Regular MD program
  • Early March: Class selected
  • Mid-April: Accepted students revisit weekend
  • May 15: Tuition deposit of $100 to hold a place in the entering class due
  • May 15: Only one medical school acceptance may be held by an applicant
  • June 1: Deadline for accepted students to request deferment
  • Third Week of August: Matriculation and orientation; classes begin

Tuition 2009-2010

2009-10 Tuition and Fees: $46, 955.00

Note: Foreign students will not be offered financial aid. As well, foreign students (except for Canadians) must pay all four years of tuition in advance ($178, 600 in 2009) or deposit the sum in an escrow account.
