Admission Requirements

Initial applications are accepted only through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). Information and application materials are available at www.aamc.org.

Course and Degree Requirements

Boston University School of Medicine requires that all applicants have a minimum of a bachelors degree from an accredited 4 year US or Canadian college, such as McGill. All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements by the time they would matriculate into our school:

- English Composition or Literature (1 year) - Humanities (1 year) - Biology (1 year) with Lab (1 year) - General Chemistry (1 year) with Lab (1 year) - Organic Chemistry (1 year) with Lab (1 year) - Physics (1 year)

GPA

We do not have a minimum required GPA for entrance to our school. The incoming averages for the first year class 2009 is roughly and 3.65 in GPA.

MCAT

We do not have a minimum required MCAT score for entrance to our school. The incoming averages for the first year class 2009 is roughly 33 for the MCAT.

Supporting Documents

BUSM applicants should send all letters of recommendation directly to AMCAS which will forward the letters to our office electronically.

Those applicants who attend, or who have recently graduated from, an undergraduate institution or a postbaccalaureate premedical program which offers a Health Professions Advisor or Advisory Committee should submit a letter from this person or committee; this letter should be sent to AMCAS as described above. If no such institutional letter is available, the applicant should explain this on the BUSM supplemental application and substitute a minimum of three individual letters, including two from science professors.

Interview

We conduct interviews on selected Monday, Wednesday, and Friday dates from early October to the middle of February. All interviews are offered by invitation of the Committee on Admissions and once an applicant has been invited, every effort is made to accommodate his/her schedule requests. The interview day program runs from 8:00 AM to about 3:00 PM and includes opportunities to meet students and faculty, and a presentation from the Office of Student Financial Services. Each applicant has a 45-60 minute personal interview with a member of the faculty who serves on the Committee on Admissions.

Tuition 2009-2010

Tuition for the 2009-2010 academic year is US $46,488 with a Graduate Program Fee of $600. This does not include books or housing.
