Admissions Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Degree: 90 undergraduate semester hours; baccalaureate preferred but not required
- Required Courses
- Math (3-4 semester hours) - Biostatistics preferred, but any course with quantitative math. Statistics, physics, calculus are satisfactory.
- Expository Writing (3-4 semester hours)
- Humanities-Social/Behavioral Sciences (12 semester hours) Examples: psychology, sociology, anthropology, foreign languages, ethics, philosophy, theology, literature, art history
- Organic Chemistry (2 semesters; 6-8 semester hours) - lab is NOT required
- Biochemistry (3-4 semester hours) - lab is NOT required
- Advanced Biology (3-4 semester hours) - lab is NOT required. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: genetics, cell/molecular biology
- RECOMMENDED: Spanish

- The MCAT must be taken before September 2014 to qualify for the 2018 application cycle.

- Letters of Recommendation
- From Chair of Premedical Advisory Committee, premedical advisor, coordinator, or person in charge of advising; OR
- Evaluations from minimum 3 individuals (4 maximum) who are qualified to evaluate you personally and academically
- Letters must be current from the calendar year preceding proposed enrollment
- Letters must be submitted through AMCAS
- If you're no longer an undergraduate student and now a graduate student
- Letter from graduate advisor or major professor; OR
- Letter from chairperson of your major department
- If you have not attended college or university for more than 1 year
- Letter from your immediate supervisor
- Second and third letters must be from current or former professors
- All letters must be less than 1 year old
- Deadline to receive letters is Dec. 1.
- M.D./Ph.D. applicants must provide a minimum of 1 additional letter of reference from research mentor(s) addressing your potential as an investigator.
- Deadline for M.D./Ph.D. applicants is Nov. 1.
