Admission Requirements
General Notes
- A generous exposure to mathematics, humanities, and social sciences is desired. Real life experience in the health care field is strongly recommended.
- Other factors are considered, including:
- Problem-solving skills, critical judgment, and the ability to pursue independent study
- Course load, difficulty of the courses, and major area of study
- Maturity, emotional and motivational factors, and personal integrity
Criteria
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
- students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship may be considered without a baccalaureate degree.
- Minimum of 90 semester credits of college level courses
Required Classes
- Biology - One year of Biology, including Laboratory work. Prospective students will benefit by taking courses in one or more of the following: Genetics, Cellular Biology, Developmental Biology, and Comparative Anatomy.
- General Chemistry - One year of General Chemistry, including Laboratory work.
- Organic Chemistry - One year of Organic Chemistry, including Laboratory work. Coursework should include both aliphatic and aromatic compounds
- General Physics - One year of General Physics, including Laboratory work. General introductory coursework should include mechanics, heat, light, sound, electricity, and nuclear radiation.
- English - One year. Satisfactory written and verbal skills are necessary.
MCAT
- MCAT scores are required, and must be sent directly from the testing agency.
- All documents forwarded to MEAS become the property of AUC.
Interview
- A personal interview may be requested at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.
Deadlines
- No deadline (rolling admissions)
- Prospective students should plan on completing their application 4-5 months prior to the semester they are seeking. Semesters begin September, January, and May.
Tuition
Basic Sciences:
- Semesters 1-4: $12,000/semester
- Semester 5: $13,000
Clinical Sciences:
- Semesters 6-9: $13,250/semester
- Semester 9.5: $6,625
Financial Aid
- Subsidized Stafford Loans
- Qualified students demonstrating financial need may borrow a maximum of $8,500 per academic year (two semesters) up to a combined graduate and undergraduate aggregate limit of $65,500.
- The government pays interest on the loan while the student is enrolled at least half-time and during the six- month grace period after enrollment ceases.
- Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
- Qualified students may borrow a maximum of $20,500 per academic year (two semesters) minus any eligibility established for the Subsidized Stafford Loan.
- Interest accrues over the life of the loan and, together with the principal, can be deferred until the student ceases to be enrolled at least half-time and the grace period expires.
