Program Information
- Doctor of Medicine (MD)
- 4 years in length

- Must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident
- Applicants are required to spend their 3rd year outside of London or Windsor in the SWOMEN teaching sites
- Applicants classified as either Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network (SWOMEN) or non-SWOMEN
- SWOMEN region: Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth, Oxford, Middlesex, Lambton, Chatham-Kent, Elgin, Norfolk, and Essex Counties)

Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Degree
- Finishing or have already completed a 4-year honours or equivalent undergraduate degree (any discipline)
- Note: Honours degree or equivalent requires applicants to take courses 3/5 courses in the same level as their year (i.e. U2/third-year students must take third-year or 300- level courses)
- Applicants must have completed 20 full-year courses by the end of the academic year in which the application is being made

GPA
- Minimum: 3.70 (4.0 scale)
- Calculation method:
- Minimum score is required in at least TWO full years (5 courses per semester)
- 3 full higher-level classes (2nd year or higher) must be taken in at least one of the two years used in the GPA cut-off calculation
- Repeated courses are NOT included- if a course is repeated in a 5-course term, the GPA will only be counted as 4 courses.
- Summer courses are NOT included in GPA calculation
- Classes taken during part year of studies are NOT included in GPA calculation (i.e. If applicant to an extra semester to complete degree)

- In the 2011-12 application cycle, a minimum of 8 in any one section is acceptable, as long as the combined score is 30 or more. The minimum score for the Writing Sample is O.

- For multiple MCATs, the most recent testing is used.

Interview
- Candidates invited for an interview are notified by the end of January
- Approximately 450 applicants are interviewed
- Interviews take place during the weekends of March 2nd/3rd and April 6th/7th, 2013
- Each interview is 45 minutes long by a panel of 3 interviewers (1 senior medical student, 1 faculty member, and 1 community member)
Timeline
- Mid July, 2012: OMSAS application becomes available online
- Sept. 15, 2012: Deadline to create OMSAS account
- Oct. 1, 2012: Deadline to submit applications
- Oct. 1, 2012: All transcripts and academic documents must be received by OMSAS
- Oct. 5, 2012: All cheques/money orders must be received
- Oct. 11, 2012: Deadline for MCAT scores to be released to OMSAS
- Feb. 2013: Minimum GPA and MCAT scores posted on the UWO Website
- March 2/3, April 6/7 2013: Interviews take place
- May 14, 2013: First offers of admission
- Late August 2013: White Coat Ceremony
- September 2013: Orientation
