General Notes
- 81 admissions places are reserved for applicants whose place of residence is New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island, the Maritimes provinces of Canada
- 9 seats are available to non-Maritime and international applicants

Criteria
Required classes
- A baccalaureate degree in any discipline is the minimum requirement for entry;
- A four-year degree is highly preferred to a three-year degree.
- Although there are no absolute prerequisite classes, candidates are encouraged to have taken two or three science classes at a challenging level.

GPA
- Considering the 3 best out of 4 years
- Min. 3.3 GPA for Maritime applicants
- Min 3.7 for non-Maritime
- For the class of 2010, the entering GPA scores ranged from 3.2-4.0 (on a 4.0 scale), with an average score for the accepted class of 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale).

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
- The minimum MCAT scores:
- 24 for Maritime
- 30 for non-Maritime
- Minimum score of 8 or 10, respectively, in each category. One category is allowed to have a lower score of 7 or 9, as long as the total score still reaches the minimum.
- In past years, the MCAT scores ranged from 24-41, with an average score of 30.

Deadlines
- September 1st: Applications become available for next year. Applications can be downloaded, printed, and then mailed.
- October 31st: Application deadline. All applications must be postmarked by this date.
- December 16th to 20th: Email interview notices sent out to Maritime applicants. Emails are also sent to all ineligible applicants.
- Early January: Email notices for interviews sent out to selected non-Maritime applicants. Email notifications also sent to all �non-competitive� non-Maritime applicants
- January-February: Interviews for Maritime applicants begin. All interviews will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.
- February-June: Admissions Committee begins to meet; decisions will be mailed to accepted and not accepted applicants on the last Wednesday of every month. Committee meetings continue until all spaces are filled; wait lists are set by end of June.
- Mid-April: Non-Maritime files are reviewed and decision letters are mailed out at the end of the month.
- July 31st: Deadline to submit applications for entrance scholarships and bursaries.

Tuition
- For 2006/2007, tuition (plus fees) was approx. $14,625.
- Estimates for the class of 2011 show tuition and fees at $14,625 yearly, with supplies at around $2,000 yearly and living expenses at around $16,000 yearly.

Statistics
Profile of the accepted applicants for the Medicine program in September 2006:
- 657 applications received
- All 286 Maritime applicants who met the minimum requirements were offered an interview.
- In the Non-Maritime group, 50 applicants were offered an interview.
- In the class of 2010, 55 students are from Nova Scotia, 19 students are from New Brunswick, while 7 students are from PEI. A total of 9 students were admitted this year from the Non-Maritimes provinces, all of whom were from Ontario.
- The average age is 25 years.
- GPA scores ranged from 3.2-4.0 (on a 4.0 scale), with an average score for the accepted class of 3.7 (on a 4.0 scale).
- There are 52 females (57%) and 40 males (43%) in the class of 2010.
- In the class there are 29% of the students who have graduate degrees, 1 of which is a PhD.
- In the class of 2010, 32 students (35%) submitted applications in previous years.
