Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from US or Canadian college (or equivalent) is required
- Minimum 3 years of undergraduate or graduate level work
- Beginning in 2018 admissions cycle, UCLA will be moving towards a competency-based entrance requirements
- Competencies - A successful applicant will have demonstrated attainment in the following areas:
- Courses:
- Biological Sciences and Physiology: Cellular and Molecular Biology and Genetics
- Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physical Sciences: Inorganic and Organic chemistry, Biochemistry of intermediary metabolism, associated lab activities
- Humanities: May include literature, art, history, philosophy, religion, ethics, economics, social behaviour, psychology
- Mathematics and Statistics: May include biomathematics, computer science, matrix algebra
- AP credits are acceptable
- Skills:
- Writing and communication
- Clinical Experiences
- Interpersonal Skils

MCAT
- All MCAT scores will be considered
- Test must have been written within 3 years of application deadline
- Beginning with the 2016 application year both the old MCAT and the 2015 MCAT will be accepted.
- After January 2018, only the 2015 MCAT will be acceptable.

Interview
- Held from October through to January
- Multiple Mini-Interview format
- Conducted by a faculty, staff, and medical students
- For 2016, approximately 900 applicants were interviewed to fill a class of 175 students
- Applicants are expected to come to UCLA to interview and are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses

- June 1, 2016: AMCAS application becomes available
- October 17, 2016: Deadline for AMCAS application
- August 2016: Supplemental application available
- February 2017: Deadline for supplemental application and letters requested to be submitted.
- September 2016 - March 2017: Interviews are held
- January 15, 2017: Beginning of offers of admission (until class is filled)
- Applicants have two weeks to accept offer of admission
- Financial aid forms will be forwarded one week after acceptance (click here for more information)
