Program Information
Curriculum
- Doctor of Medicine (MD)
- 4 years in length
- The first two years of the program are classified as medical sciences and take place at the St. Maarten campus. An overview of this curriculum can be found by clicking here
- The following 72 weeks of the program are classified as clinical sciences and consist of clerkship rotations that can be scheduled at one or many hospitals across the United States and the United Kingdom. For more information about this portion of the MD program, please click here.

- Applicants came from 30 different US states and 5 different Canadian provinces
- A variety of 56 majors were recognized among the applicants, with biology being at the top, followed by various forms of traditional science study and some applicants with notable non-science majors such as English and economics.
- The average age was 25; ranging from 21-49

- The average cGPA was 3.30 and the average science GPA was 3.12

Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- All applicants who matriculate to the American University of the Caribbean (AUC) must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university.
- Required Courses:
- Biology: 1 year including lab work
- General chemistry: 1 year including lab work
- Organic chemistry: 1 year including lab work
- General physics with Lab: 1 year including lab work

GPA
- The university will look at both the overall GPA of all courses completed at the post-secondary institutions as well as the cGPA of the prerequisite courses.

- All applicants must take the MCAT and submit their scores to the university
- MCAT must have been written with five years of application

- A non-refundable $100 USD application fee payable to AUC
- Personal statement (one 8.5x11 page, typed, 750 words max)
- Essay should touch on why applicant wants to pursue medicine, what qualities would make them a good physician, the applicant's goals, their capacity to succeed at the AUC, etc.
- Chronological list of education/work experience/extra-curriculars since graduation from high school
- Letters of Recommendations
- Official letters form a Pre-Medical Advisory Committee are preferable
- At least one must be from science professors who have taught the applicant; another must be a professional letter
- Additional references may be submitted.
- Letters must be on letterhead stationary and send directly from the writer
- Official transcripts
- The applicant must send these directly from the registrars of the applicants previous institutions of study in official sealed envelopes)
- MCAT scores
- The applicant must request that their official MCAT scores are sent directly from the testing agency to the AUC's administration office.

- No specific deadline as applicants are enrolled based upon a rolling admission.
- Semesters begin in January, May and September
- Applicants may apply up to one year in advance of their desired semester.
- Applicants are advised to apply 4-5 months prior to term to which they are seeking admission
