Program Information

  • Two-year (24-month) program, including spring/summer terms
    • Three internships, each 5 weeks in length, occur through out the duration of the program

Admissions Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Four-year undergraduate degree
  • Required courses are:
    • Human Physiology (one half course)
    • Human Anatomy (one half course)
    • Life and/or Physical Sciences (one full course or two half courses)
    • Social Sciences and/or Humanities and/or Languages (one full course or two half courses)
      • Psychology may count for Life Science or Social Science credits
    • Statistics or Research Methods (one half course)

GPA

  • Cutoff: 3.81 GPA (A/A- range) based on the last 20 half courses completed for 2018 cycle.
  • Includes all summer, part-time, intersession, correspondence and university courses - even after the four-year degree is completed.
  • Activity-type courses, non-convertible grades (e.g., pass/fail) and Consecutive Bachelor of Education (BEd) undergraduate degree courses will not be included in this calculation
  • Graduate students are normally assessed on their last 20 half course equivalents completed by December 31 of the application year, including both undergraduate and graduate courses; a minimum requirement of a B- (70%) in all prerequisite courses

TOEFL

  • Minimum scores:
    • Paper-based: 600
    • Internet-based: 100/120 and 22/30 on the writing and speaking sections
  • Must have been completed within the last two years
  • Scores must be received no later than March 1, 2019

Other Requirements

  • Online application on ORPAS website
  • Application fee: $190 plus an institutional levy of $90 for each university selection with the exception of McMaster University.
  • Two references:
    • one academic and one professional
  • Computer Administered Profile (CAP):
    • Only top applicants (ranked initially by marks) are invited to write CAP on-site at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday, April 27, 2019
    • The CAP is a two-hour exam consisting of short answer and long answer questions
    • CAP scores count for 40% of your admission score; GPA counts for the other 60%

Interview

  • There is no interview

Timeline 2018-2019

  • October 2018: Applications available on ORPAS website
  • January 4, 2019: Deadlines for all application material, including references
  • January 10, 2019: Deadline to write the CASPer test
  • January 11, 2019: Deadline for ORPAS to receive payments
  • January 30, 2019: Deadline for ORPAS to receive initial transcripts for all coursework to date
  • February 2019: ORPAS calculates a sub-GPA
  • Late March/early April, 2019: Invitations for CAP are sent
  • April 27, 2019: CAP day at U of T
  • May 17, 2019: Admission results emailed to all applicants
  • June 7, 2019: Due of responses to first-round offers
  • June 30, 2019: Deadline for receipt of final transcripts
