Admission Requirements for Master of Physical Therapy (M.P.T.)
General Notes
- 96 interviews offered and 40 applicants offered admission each year (6 of the 40 are designated to the Education Equity Program for Aboriginal Students)
Criteria
- Four year baccalaureate degree in any discipline from a college or university
- A required average of 70%. For applicants with an undergraduate degree, only the two most recent academic years are considered.
- For applicants holding a graduate degree, all courses are considered.
- Successful completion of the following courses:
- Human Physiology -- 6 credits
- Human Anatomy -- 3 credits
- Statistical Methods -- 3 credits
- NOTE: applicants must seek and receive approval for equivalent courses from the Admissions Committee well in advance of application. For more information, click here
Residency Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant and a resident of Saskatchewan, the Yukon, Northwest or Nunavut Territories.
- A resident is considered to have an established home at least one year prior to Sept. 1st in the year of proposed admission, or the applicant’s family resides in these provinces.

Interview
- Admissions interviews are scheduled for early to mid-March.
- the interview evaluates personal characteristics such as interpersonal skills, professionalism, critical thinking, integrity, decision making and knowledge of health care.
- Interview is between 70-100 minutes long and composed of 7-10 stations, each with a different evaluator.
- All applicants must sign a confidentiality agreement and a data release form.
- The interview will be scheduled only once and cannot be rescheduled.

Admission
- Admission scores are weighted (60% depends on your academic average, 40% on the score from the interview)
- If accepted, applicants must participate in a full body exam.
- Admitted applicants are required to obtain a “Level C” CPR certification during the first six weeks of the term, unless they already obtained one within the past year.
- This certification must be renewed yearly.

2018-2019 Tuition
- Tuition (assessed as a single flat fee): $19,924.00
- Additional costs may include books, housing/food, local transportation.

- There is the Saskatchewan Health Bursary and entrance scholarship of $1,000 and $1,500

Other facts/Notes
- Students in the M.P.T. program are engaged in academics for 11 months per year.
- The program lasts 2 years and 6 months.
- The program is divided into ten modules which include a major project, clinical education, discovery time, case integration and various evaluations.
