• Master of Science (M.Sc.)
  • Occupational Therapy (Applied) (MScA-OT)
    • 58 credit degree programs
    • 1000 hours of fieldwork education over 5 semesters
  • Physical Therapy (Applied) (MScA-PT)
    • 58 credit degree programs
    • 1000 hours of fieldwork education in 5 semesters
    • Opportunity for clinical training by NACEP guidelines

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

• MScA-OT
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent from a recognized university
  • Completion of the Qualifying Year (QY) is a requirement before the candidates may enter the MScA-OT program
    • Students may apply for the M.Sc. program after successful completion of the QY with a minimum cGPA of 3.0/4.0
• For MScA-PT, there are 2 possibilities
  • Completion of McGill B.Sc. in Rehabilitation Science (major in PT)
  • Or, completion of the QY
• Prerequisite courses for Physical Therapy:
  • Human Anatomy (3 credits)
  • Human/Mammalian Physiology (3 credits)
  • Grade for these courses must be 70%+
• Applicants to MScA-OT who have taken at least one of the following are preferred:
  • Human Anatomy (3 credits)
  • Human Physiology (3 credits)
  • Psychology (3 credits)
  • Neuroanatomy/Neuroscience (3 credits)
  • Research Methods/Statistics (3 credits)

GPA

• Minimum B standing, equivalent to a McGill cGPA of 3.0 (70-74%) for Occupational Therapy
  • Average cGPA for 2018 candidates: 3.61/4.0
• Minimum B+ standing, or a McGill CGPA of 3.2 (75-79%) for Physical Therapy

  • Applicant statement on web application, which describes (a) motivation, (b) preparedness, (c) suitability and (d) reasons for choosing OT Professional Program

• Additional for Physical Therapy MScA-PT
  • Applicant statement of purpose that (a) Describe the journey that has brought you to the decision to apply to Physical Therapy. (b) Reveal your verbal communication skills, knowledge of physical therapy and your interest in it.

Other Requirements

• Non-Canadian applicants, whose mother tongue is not English, and have not completed a university degree in English, must demonstrate English Language Proficiency in one of the following tests.
  • TOEFL: IBT - minimum 86 (at least 20 in each component)
  • IELTS: minimum 7.0
• Knowledge of French is highly recommended due to several Francophone clinical placements
