Program Information

  • Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT)
    • 25-28 month long
    • Course-based
    • 84 students per year
    • Selection Basis
      • Preference given to residents of Alberta (15% allocated for out-of-province students)
      • GPA in the most recent 60 credits prior to January of the admission year
      • Successful completion of prerequisite courses
      • Receipt of letter of verification
  • Master of Science in Rehabilitation Science (MScRS)
    • Thesis-based
    • Designed for students from backgrounds in rehabilitation medicine and related areas
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Science (PhD)

Work and Volunteer Requirements

  • A minimum of 30 hours of volunteer or paid work is required
    • Work must include interactions with persons with disabilities
    • 30 hours should be from within no more than two facilities or settings

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: MScPT
    • bachelor’s degree from academic institution recognized by University of Alberta
    • baccalaureate degree may be in any field of study
  • Required Courses
    • English (3 credits)
    • Statistics (3 credits)
    • Psychology (6 credits)
    • Human Anatomy (3 credits)
    • Human Physiology (6 credits)
      • Note – only human anatomy and physiology are accepted
  • Degree: MScRS
    • bachelor’s degree or equivalent or a previous graduate degree in a rehabilitation discipline or related area from academic institution recognized by University of Alberta

    • Minimum score of 92 iBT
