Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
Requirements for Master's degree in Occupational Therapy Msc (OT) or Physiotherapy MSc (PT)
- graduating from a 4-year baccalaureate degree (120 units/credits):
- A minimum average of B or 75% or 3.0/4 or 8/12, calculated over the last 60 units of your university course work.
- graduated from a 3-year baccalaureate degree (90 units/credits):
- 3-year baccalaureate degree (90 units/credits)
- plus an additional 30 units/credits to now total 120 units/credits in all
- 18 units/credits must be at the fourth-year level or above.
- A minimum average of B or 75% or 3.0/4 or 8/12, calculated over the last 60 units of your university course work.
In addition to the above requirements, the MSc (PT) degree requires:
- A full or half credit in one biological or life science course with a grade of B or 75% or 3.0/4 or 8/12 or higher.
- A full or half credit in one social science or humanities course with a grade of B or 75% or 3.0/4 or 8/12 or higher.

International students
- International students are defined as those who are not Canadian citizens or not Permanent Residents in Canada
- Enrolment is limited to 6 in the Physiotherapy program
- Criteria is identical to domestic students for international students graduating from a 3-year or a 4-year baccalaureate degree
- One page Letter of Introduction/Statement of Interest
- A Curriculum Vitae
- TOEFL (if applicable)
- In addition to the domestic student criteria, a score of at least 600 (written) or 250 (computer) or 92 (iBT) on the TOEFL test is required, if English is not the applicant’s first language
- TOEFL scores that are more than 2 years old are not valid
- Original Transcripts
- Applicants with foreign transcripts (excluding the US) are required to submit original documents with notarized English copies of all degree course work

Interview
- Approximately the top 300 ranked applicants are invited for a personal interview.
- Applicants invited to be interviewed are notified approximately 3 weeks in advance of their interview.
- Cut-off GPA for an interview invitation for the 2012 cycle was 3.48 for OT and 3.72 for PT.
- Interviews dates for 2013: Friday, April 26/13, Saturday, April 27/13 and Sunday, April 28/13. .
- Applicants will be notified of the admissions decision on May 17, 2013.

Admission
- Applicants apply via Online Application Service through ORPAS by January 11, 2013
- Applicants will be ranked on a combination of their pre admission sub-GPA (25% of final ranking) and their interview scores (75% of final ranking)

Deadlines
- January 11, 2013: Deadline to submit application to ORPAS
- January 31, 2013: Deadline to submit all transcripts to ORPAS
- Early April 2013: 300 top ranked applicants will be invited to participate in the Multiple Mini Interview Process
- April 26, 27, and 28, 2013: Multiple Mini Interviews will be conducted in person at McMaster University (Note: these cannot be rescheduled; please hold these dates in your calendar)
- May 17, 2013: Offers for MSc(OT) and MSc(PT) Programs will be emailed to top ranked candidates (using the email address applicants submitted in their ORPAS online application)
- May 31, 2013: Deadline to respond to offers for admission, including payment of $500 non-refundable deposit to "hold a seat" for both firm and provisional acceptances
- June 7, 2013: Provisional acceptances become firm
- June 28, 2013: Deadline to submit final transcripts to ORPAS, with confirmation that your degree has been conferred (if applicable)

Tuition
- For domestic students: $8,112.005 CDN per year
- For international students: $26,500.00 CDN per year
- Projected additional costs include: police criminal check, anatomy card, professional practical fees and in-transit placement costs
- Domestic and international students are permitted to apply for Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS)
- OGS application deadline is early October for the following academic year
- Other governmental assistance is available: the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and the Ontario Work-Study Program, provided the terms and conditions of the programs are met by the applicant
- Students with current OSAP applications are automatically considered for a program bursary, but out-of-province students must apply manually
- Bursary application deadlines are February 14th of each academic year

Other Trivia/Notes
- The student to faculty ratio is approximately 6:1
- 24-month program, studies are based on the philosophies of self-directed and problem-based learning, evidence-based and client-centred practice
- Students have the option of a northern studies stream in collaboration with Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario
- Students spend a total of 30 weeks in full-time clinical placements in a variety of practice settings
- Graduates with a strong educational bias may be eligible to proceed to thesis-based graduate programs should they wish to do so in the future
