Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • With an undergraduate degree (other than one in physiotherapy), the qualifying year begins in Fall 2008. The Masters program will commence in Summer 2009.
  • This degree will graduate clinicians who are eligible to practice Physical Therapy.
  • The M.Sc.A.PT (Masters of Science [applied] in Physiotherapy) is a 58 credit masters degree that will be completed in 5 consecutive semesters: approximately 20 months overall.
  • Students holding a B.Sc.A.PT or B.Sc.A.OT may not apply

Criteria

Required classes

  • For students with undergraduate degrees in physiotherapy (non-practicing):
    • No prerequisites
  • For Students with undergraduate degree other than physiotherapy:
    • After acceptance into the program, a qualifying year starting in the fall.
    • No pre-requisites for acceptance, but having completed courses in anatomy, physiology & sociology will be an advantage to the candidate.

GPA

  • Students with undergraduate degrees in physiotherapy:
    • Minimum cGPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0)
  • Students with undergraduate degree other than physiotherapy:
    • Minimum cGPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0)
    • Must have completed 50 hours of volunteer or paid service in an occupational therapy or physical therapy department of a hospital or other facility.

Interview

  • No interview is needed.

Admission

  • If an applicant does not immediately receive final acceptance, he or she may be put on conditional acceptance awaiting final documentation, be placed on a waiting list, or may be denied acceptance. *Applicants on the waiting list could be accepted into the program up until the first of September. *Upon admission, students must pay a deposit of $500.00, which will be credited toward tuition. *Accepted students must have an undergraduate degree.
  • 2 transcripts must be sent
  • Letters of recommendation: Applicants (with some exceptions) are required to ask two instructors familiar with their work to send letters of recommendation on letterhead with original signatures

Deadlines

  • The completed application form and application fee ($80.00) must be submitted when registering online.
  • Deadline for application submission for Fall term (international students) : January 15, 2007
  • Deadline for application submission for Fall term for Canadian : April 1, 2007
  • Decisions will be completed in March or April.

Tuition

  • Total fees vary per year, from $3,099.02 one semester for Quebec students, $6,344.42 for Non-Quebec canadians, and 6,344.42 for international students.
  • Students are charged a flat rate based on 15 credits per term if they are registered full-time.
  • These estimates include the tuition fee, society fees, student services-Athletics, Registration-Transcripts & Diploma charges, copyright fee, and information technology fees.
  • Entrance scholarships are possible.
