Program Information

  • Master’s Program (MSc) - 2 years
    • Must take 2 half-graduate courses at the 700 level
    • Present thesis and defend in an oral examination
    • Can transfer to PhD program within the first 18 months by taking a transfer exam
  • Doctor’s Program (PhD) - 4-6 years
    • Students must give 2 departmental seminars
    • Present and defend thesis
  • MD/PhD program also available
  • 110 Graduate students in 2012
  • Students can choose to contact a supervisor before applying OR opt into the rotations program

Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Master’s Program
    • Honours bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Microbiology, or Physics
  • Doctor’s Program
    • Master’s degree or equivalent
    • Students with A to A+ average in all four years of study and demonstrate research experience may apply for direct admission into the PhD program
