Program Information

  • Master’s Program (MSc. Degree)
    • Generally takes 2 years, includes a few courses
  • Doctor’s Program (PhD. Degree)
    • Generally takes 4-5 years
    • Transfer is possible from MSc after around 2 years

  • Degree: a bachelor’s degree in a subject closely related to biochemistry (biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physiology, microbiology preferred)
  • Required courses
    • Organic Chemistry (6 credits)
    • Physical Chemistry (6 credits)
    • Cellular and Molecular biology (6 credits)
    • Metabolic Biochemistry (6 credits)
    • Adequate Laboratory (e.g. BIOC300D)
    • One advanced level course in each of protein structure and function and nucleic acid structure and function

  • Minimum CGPA: 3.2

GRE

  • Not necessary, but recommended for international students
    • Most important subscore of biology is Cellular and Molecular Biology, then Evolution
  • Minimum score: 550
  • Strongly recommended
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (if applicable)
    • Minimum score: PBT – 600, iBT – 86 with each component not less than 20
  • IELTS accepted with minimum overall score of 6.5

Tuition 2018-2019

    • For international students: $19,454.44 based on 30 credits taken across Fall and Winter semesters
  • Ph.D.
