Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Master’s Program
    • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or related areas
    • Required Courses
      • Introductory survey courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BIOL200 (3 credits) and BIOC212 (3 credits) or BIOL201 (3 credits))
      • Two advanced courses in biochemistry (BIOC311, 312 (6 credits) or equivalent)
  • Doctor’s Program
    • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Direct Entry to PhD from a Bachelor's Program
    • In addition to the requirements for entry to the MSc program, must have a minimum academic average of 85%
    • Research experience would be an asset, but is not a requirement.

  • Minimum B+ (78%, as calculated by the Department) during the last two years of study

GRE

  • International students require GRE General and GRE Subject (Biochemistry)
    • TOEFL scores are required
      • Minimum paper-based – 600
      • Minimum computer-based – 250
      • Minimum internet-based – 90
      • Waived if language of instruction is English
