Course and Degree Requirements

  • Master’s Program
    • Degree: four year Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or an Honours Bachelor of science degree (BScH) in an academic discipline relevant to Biochemistry
  • PhD Program
    • Degree: a Master of Science (MSc) degree in an academic discipline relevant to Biochemistry

GPA

  • Applicants to Master’s Program
    • CGPA of at least 70% in the last two years of study (60 credits)
  • Applicants to Doctor’s program from Master’s degree
    • CGPA of at least 3.0 on 4.0 scale in the last two years of coursework
  • Direct Entry
    • CGPA of at least 80% in the last two year of study.

  • Educational history from all post-secondary institutions (transcripts)
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency where required
    • TOEFL - Overall score of 86 with 19+ in each category
    • IELTS - Overall score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any category
    • CanTest - Overall score of 4.5 with no less than 4.5 in any category
    • PTE - Overall score of 63 with no less than 59 in each category
    • CAEL - Overall 70% score with minimum individual scores of 60.

Deadline

  • There is no university deadline for applications to graduate studies set by the College of Graduate Studies and Research.
  • Applications are accepted throughout the year, but are recommended for before February 1 to be considered for scholarships. Admission for January and May are occasionally offered for special cases.
