Program Information

  • Master’s Program (MSc. Degree)
    • Generally takes 2 years
  • Doctor’s Program (PhD. Degree)
    • Generally takes 4-5 years
    • Transfer is possible from MSc after around 2 years


Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: a bachelor’s degree in a subject closely related to biochemistry (biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physiology, microbiology preferred)
  • Required courses
    • Organic Chemistry (6 credits)
    • Physical Chemistry (6 credits)
    • Cellular and Molecular biology (6 credits)
    • Metabolic Biochemistry (6 credits)
    • Adequate Laboratory (e.g. BIOC300D)
    • One advanced level course in each of protein structure and function and nucleic acid structure and function

GRE

  • International students who have received a non-North American degree should submit a GRE score
    • either General or Subject test in Biochemistry or Cell and Molecular Biology
  • Minimum score: 550
  • Strongly recommended
  • TOEFL scores are required for an applicant whose mother tongue is not English, and graduated from a university where the language of instruction is not English
    • Minimum score: PBT – 567, iBT – 86 with each component not less than 20
  • IELTS accepted with minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher
