Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 3 years (87 credits) of undergraduate study in Canada. Students are encouraged to take courses other than those of the biological and physical sciences.
  • Required Courses:
    • English (6 credits) – 2 composition courses or 1 composition course with another writing intensive course in literature or humanities.
    • General Biology or Zoology (8 credits)
    • General Chemistry (8 credits)
    • Organic Chemistry (8 credits)
    • Biochemistry (3 credits)
    • Mathematics (3 credits): college algebra or precalculus, computer science, or statistics
    • Applied Human Psychology (3 credits): general human psychology, child psychology, or business psychology
  • Recommended Courses
    • Students should select elective courses to fulfill a broad and liberal curriculum

  • Minimum: 2.7 (4.0 scale)
  • Average accepted GPA 2010: 3.62
    • Average Science GPA 2010: 3.57

DAT

  • Minimum scores:
    • Student should score at or above the national average of each section.
    • National average currently is between 17 and 18.

  • Scores must be submitted by December 1 of the year before entering the program.

Experience

  • Minimum 30 hours of observation in general dentistry required.

    • 3 letters of recommendation (2 from the science faculty, 1 from an employer/supervisor)

  • Orientation to Dentistry Statement: documents the applicant’s observation/participation of patient care in a general dentistry practice.
  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores if applicant’s primary language is not English.
