Course and Degree Requirements

  • Required Courses (High School)
    • Mathematics (pre-calculus) credit with minimum 50% score or Math 40S (applied ) with minimum 70%
    • Chemistry 40S credit with minimum 50% score
    • Physics 40S credit with minimum 50% score
    • Biology 40S credit with minimum 50% score
  • Minimum 60 university credit hours
  • Minimum completion of 2 regular Fall/Winter sessions or 2 sets of 2 sequential terms where each term contains a minimum of 24 new credit hours.
  • Mandatory Courses (42 credits):
    • Intro. Chemistry: CHEM 110 and 120 with labs
    • Organic Chemistry: CHEM 212 and 222 with labs
    • Biochemistry: BIOC 311/312 and BIOC300D
      • or FD Sc 211/212/AN Sc 234 (offered by the Macdonald Campus)
    • Physics: PHYS 101 and 102 with labs
    • Biology: BIOL 111 and 112 with labs
    • English: 3 credits
    • Humanities/Social Sciences: One full course must be in the non-applied Sciences or non-pure Sciences (as classified by: http://webapps.cc.umanitoba.ca/calendar07/faculties/arts/arts.pdf)

  • Minimum Core Course GPA: 3.25 (for Manitoba applicants in 2009), 3. 85 (for out-of-province applicants in 2009)
  • Adjusted GPA calculation for applicants with two years of pre-dental studies
    • (2x average of CORE courses) + (1x average of lower year) + (3x average of better year) all divided by 6.
  • Minimum GPA, and method of GPA calculation varies for different types of applicants

  • Minimum PAT score: 14
  • Minimum Carving Dexterity score: 12
