Program Information

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
    • 5 years in length
    • 966 applications were received for 75 positions available
    • Apply through UCAS

Academic Requirements

  • English language proficiency. The minimum level of proficiency is:
    • GCSE English Language grade B or above
    • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English grade B or above
    • International English language Testing (IELTS) score of 7.0, with not less than 6.5 in any one component
  • Other entry requirements (e.g. graduates with a bachelor's degree): minimum upper second class (~CGPA of 3.3)

  • Personal Statement: address reasons for choosing dentistry, work experience, team and leadership experience, and manual dexterity.
  • School/College reference
  • UKCAT (Does not have a cut-off score)
    • Considering quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, decision analysis, and abstract reasoning
  • Health screening
    • Satisfactory evidence on non-infectivity with respect to the blood-borne viruses HIV and Hepatitis B and C
    • Pass a screen health screening in Student Occupational Health
  • All potential students have to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Portfolio Requirements
    • Applicants are expected to have worked at a dentistry workplace for a minimum of 2 weeks.

Interview

  • Take place in the School of Dentistry, and normally combined with a tour of the School with a dental student
  • Not a test of academic knowledge

Tuition 2013-2014
