Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • 93 credits must be completed at an accredited four-year college or university
  • A Bachelor's degree is strongly recommended
  • Priority is given to citizens and permanent residents of the United States
  • All applicants must submit an AADSAS profile.

Criteria

Required classes

  • The following year-long (8 credits) courses must be completed including their respective laboratory components:
    • Biological Sciences
    • General (Inorganic) Chemistry
    • General Physics
  • Additional Required Courses:
    • A semester of Organic Chemistry with laboratory component (4 credits)
    • Two courses in English (6 credits)
    • A course in biochemistry (3 credits)
    • A course in psychology (3 credits)
    • 11 additional credits in social science, humanities or foreign language
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Credits may be used to fulfill these requirements
  • Minimum required GPA for application:
    • For residents of California: 2.70
    • Elsewhere: 3.00
  • Mean GPA of 2008 Entering Class:
    • Cumulative GPA: 3.36
    • Mean Science GPA: 3.40

DAT

  • The DAT is required, and must be taken no later than September 15 of the year prior to anticipated date of entry
  • The DAT Scores are only valid for 2 years, and only the US DAT is admissible
  • A minimum score of 17 is required in the PAT, Total Science and Academic Average in order to apply
  • Mean DAT Scores for 2008 Entering Class:
    • ACA: 20
    • PAT: 20

Supporting Documents

  • Eligible applicants will be notified on how to complete a Secondary Application.
  • 3 letters of recommendation must be sent:
    • One from a college science professor
    • One from a dentist, or a researcher/advisor/mentor
    • One from an individual of choice

Deadlines

  • May 2008: AADSAS Application Open
  • October 15, 2008: AADSAS Application, Letters of Recommentation and transcripts due
  • November 1, 2008: Regular MD AMCAS applications due
  • December 2008-March 2009: Letters of Acceptance sent
