- Average grade of all interviewed applicants 2016: 86.55% (88.29% for Non-BC residents)
- Average grade of all accepted applicants 2016: 86.05% (89.01% for Non-BC residents)
All college/university work taken into account (including failed courses)
Worst year will be dropped for applicants who have completed 4+ years of college/university

Dental Aptitude Test – only Canadian version accepted
Two components used in calculations:
- Academic Test
- Perceptual Test
- Carving is no longer required
Mean DAT scores 2011 of interviewed candidates:
- Academic Average – 20.77
- Perceptual Ability & Carving – 22.47
Must be written by the November exam date prior to admission year
DAT must have been written within 5 years of application
Best score used if written multiple times

- International Transcripts must be sent with translated and notarized English versions and pre-requisite course outlines
- High School Transcripts required from applicants who have not been registered at UBC

DMD Admissions Open House Weekend (Interview)

Applicants qualified based on GPA and DAT scored will be invited to the DMD Admissions Open House Weekend
- Normally Held in February
Interview
- Lasts 35 minutes in length to assess the applicant’s capabilities related to the dental profession.
- CDA qualified team consisting of 2-3 interviewers (general practitioners, faculty members and dental students)
- Average Interview Score 2016 (out of 7): 5 for Non-BC
  - Average Interview Score of Accepted 2016: 5.0 (5.8 for Non-BC)
Problem Based Learning (PBL)
- Students rotate through a number of small groups, using in-depth critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems with peers.
- Average PBL Score 2016 (out of 10): 7.2 for accepted Non-BC
