Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: A minimum of 90 credits at an accredited American institution or its equivalent (Preferred minimum is 120 credits)

    • Physics (6 credits, with lab)
    • Biology (6 credits, with lab)
    • Inorganic or General Chemistry (6 credits, with lab)
    • Organic Chemistry (6 credits, with lab)
    • English composition or Literature (6 credits)

  • No minimum, but recommended: 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • Average accepted GPA 2009-2010: 3.50

  • No minimum cut-off scores, but the 2010 mean: 22
  • The DAT cannot be waived by taking the MCAT or otherwise.

Supporting Documents

  • An application to the College of Dental Medicine is available through the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) sponsored by *the American Dental Education Association (ADEA)
  • A certified copy of Dental Admissions Test (DAT) scores
  • Three CONFIDENTIAL letters of recommendation from science professors or one composite letter from a pre-health committee
  • Official copies of academic transcripts (sent directly to AADSAS application service)

  • Conducted on a rolling basis
  • Interviews are conducted on Fridays, and the dates depend on when the application was submitted

  • June 1 2010 to January 19 2011: applications can be submitted through the AADSAS
  • No specific time for interviews- these are conducted on Fridays on a rolling basis
  • All materials should be submitted by the second week of January of the appliation year, but it is recommended that documents be sent as early as possible, as applications are considered on a rolling basis
