Program Information
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.)
- 4 years in length (+ minimum 2 years of prerequisite studies)
- Class of 2012:
- 285 applications were received for 29 positions available (2012)
- 70 applicants were granted interviews
- A minimum of 25 of the 29 positions in the first year dental program are allocated to Manitobans.

Admission Requirements
Course and Degree Requirements
- Required Courses (High School)
- Mathematics (pre-calculus) credit with minimum 50% score or Math 40S (applied ) with minimum 70%
- Chemistry 40S credit with minimum 50% score
- Physics 40S credit with minimum 50% score
- Biology 40S credit with minimum 50% score
- Minimum 60 university credit hours
- Minimum completion of 2 regular Fall/Winter sessions or 2 sets of 2 sequential terms where each term contains a minimum of 24 new credit hours.
- Mandatory Courses (42 credits) shown as possible McGill equivalents:
- Intro. Chemistry: CHEM 110 and 120 with labs
- Organic Chemistry: CHEM 212 and 222 with labs
- Biochemistry: BIOC 311/312 and BIOC300D
- or FD Sc 211/212/AN Sc 234 (offered by the Macdonald Campus)
- Physics: PHYS 101 and 102 with labs
- Biology: BIOL 111 and 112 with labs
- English: 3 credits
- Humanities/Social Sciences: One full course must be in the non-applied Sciences or non-pure Sciences (as classified by: http://crscalprod1.cc.umanitoba.ca/Catalog/ViewCatalog.aspx?pageid=viewcatalog&loaduseredits=False)

- Minimum Core Course GPA: 3.40 (for Manitoba applicants in 2012), 3.80 (for out-of-province applicants in 2012)
- Adjusted GPA calculation for applicants with two years of pre-dental studies
- (2x average of CORE courses) + (1x average of lower year) + (3x average of better year) all divided by 6.
- Adjusted GPA calculation for applicants with 3 or more years of pre-dental studies
- (2 x the average on the CORE courses) + (0 x the average on lowest year) +(3 x the average on best year) + (1 x the average on each remaining full academic year of studies) all DIVIDED BY number of courses as appropriate
- Minimum GPA, and method of GPA calculation varies for different types of applicants

Timeline for 2012-2013 Application Session
- November 5, 2012: Last possible Dental Aptitude Test (If you are granted an interview you may use the February 2012 DAT)
- January 20, 2012: Application deadline
- February 13, 2012: Last date for receipt of transcript by the Enrolment Services/Admissions Office and final date for receipt of DAT score reports
- End of March: Interview selection decision released
- End of April or beginning of May: Interview (to be determined)
- June 4, 2011: Last date for receipt of Final Transcripts and the receipt of Feb. 2012 DAT score reports
- June 30, 2013: Applicants will be notified by this date of final selection decision
