Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Degree: Minimum 3 years of undergraduate study in an accredited university.
  • Required Courses (all must be passed with C- or above)
    • Biology with Lab (8 credits)
    • General Chemistry with Lab (8 credits)
    • Organic Chemistry with Lab (8 credits)
    • Anatomy with Lab (4 credits)
    • Microbiology with Lab (4 credits)
    • Physics (8 credits)
    • Physiology (4 credits)
    • Biochemistry (3 credits)
    • English Composition / Technical Writing (6 credits)

GPA

  • Minimum Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics): 2.75 (4.00 scale)
  • Minimum Overall: 2.75 (4.00 scale)
  • Average accepted GPA 2008: 3.39
  • A score of 3.20 is considered to be much more competitive.

DAT

  • Minimum scores:
    • Natural Sciences – 18
    • Perceptual Ability – 18
    • Reading Comprehension – 18
    • Quantitative Reasoning – 18
  • MCAT must have been written within 3 years of application deadline
  • Only the US DAT is accepted, not the Canadian one.

  • 3 letters of recommendation: one form a science professor or pre-dental science committee, the others from people who have a DO/MD or DDS/DMD degree, or someone who can adequately evaluate the candidate.
  • Pass a criminal background check.

Interview

  • Occurs between the Summer before matriculation to the end of April/May.
  • Interviews are conducted by 2 or 3 people consisting of scientists, administrators and/or dental clinicians.

Timeline

  • June 1, 2010: Recommended deadline to submit application (but not the official deadline)
  • December 1, 2010: School begins to let students know their acceptance status
  • January 1, 2011: AADSAS Application deadline
  • March 1, 2011: Deadline to submit everything in your application (DAT scores, Supplemental application, etc.)

Tuition 2010-2011

  • First year tuition - $ 54,278
  • Total first year fees (Canadian student) - $ 63,814
    • One may expect to pay up to ~$ 90,000 for other fees such as transportation, housing, books, etc.
