Admission Requirements
General Notes
- There are 200 places each year for students entering Common Law.
- Academic performance is the most significant numerical factor in selection.
Criteria
Required classes
- No required classes
- Applicant must be in at least their third year of undergraduate studies (completed 90 credits by time of entrance)
- Completing an undergraduate degree before beginning law school is recommended.

GPA
- No minimum GPA for application
- Most successful applicants have at least an A- average overall
- In 2007, the average GPA of registrants was 83%.

LSAT
- All applicants are required to have written the LSAT, without exception.
- No minimum required score for the LSAT.
- The weight given to the LSAT will change depending on the other factors in your application
- It is recommended that applicants write the LSAT by December 2008
- Applicants who write the LSAT in February 2009 jeopardize the completeness of their application due to the processing period for a completed LSAT.
- LSAT scores prior to June 2003 are not acceptable.

Supporting Documents
- Two letters of reference
- One reference must be from an academic source
- Two academic references is preferable, but not required
- Personal statement
- This element of the application is critical and should be thought of as taking the place of an interview.
- Applicants are asked to outline reasons behind their interest in law, specific interest in the U of Ottawa program as well as achievements, interests, community work etc.

- The application deadline for the fall of 2009 is November 1st, 2008.

Tuition
- Tuition for students entering in 2008–2009 is $10,707.55 plus fees per Fall-Winter year (September-April)
