Program Information

  • Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.)
  • Three year program
    • Limited number of applicants are accepted as half time students in a six year program
  • Number of applicants for 2012-2013 year: 1234
  • Number of offers for 2012-2013 year: 285


NOTE: There are two categories for applicants

  • Index score – applicants are evaluated strictly by a formula (GPA and LSAT)
  • Individual consideration – applicants are evaluated by personal statement/references/interview in addition to grades

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Applicant must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study
    • Most students have completed a Bachelor’s degree
  • No required courses

GPA

  • U of Manitoba uses a 4.5 scale
  • GPA contributes to 50% Index Score used to rank applicants
  • GPA calculation allows some grades to be dropped

LSAT

  • LSAT score contributes to 50% of Index Score used to rank applicants
    • No applicants scoring below 150 were admitted in 2012
  • Must have been written within 5 years of admission
    • For the Individual Category: LSAT test date is December 2012
    • For the Index category: December 2012 and February 2013 tests will be accepted

Interview

  • For applicants in the individual consideration category: 24 applicants chosen for interview in March

Timeline 2013-2014

  • September 17, 2012 - Early Bird application deadline (on-line & paper) for First Year to qualify for $30 discount on application fee
  • October 6, 2012 – Last day to take the LSAT in order to be considered for early admission in INDEX category
  • November 1, 2012 –Deadline to submit application (to enter first year); entrance scholarship application due
  • November 30, 2012 – Deadline to submit transcripts, references, personal statement, resume
  • December 21, 2012 - Admission/scholarhsip offer made to early bird applicants
  • December 1, 2012 – Last day to take the LSAT for “individual consideration” category
  • February 9, 2013 – Last day to take the LSAT for INDEX category
  • March 2, 3, 2013 - Interview for individual consideration
  • March 4-8, 2013 - Interviewed applicants notified
  • June 15, 2013 – Deadline to submit official final transcripts
