Admission Requirements
General
- Apply online at http://www.grad.ubc.ca/apply/online/index.asp
- GRE is not mandatory, but strongly recommended
- TOEFL is required from applicants from non-English speaking countries
Academic Requirements
MSc with Canadian or US credentials
- 4-year Bachelor’s degree
- B+ average in 3rd and 4th year courses
- OR, 12 credits of 3rd or 4th year courses in the A- range (UBC 80%) in the field of study (i.e. Atmospheric Science)
- Sufficient academic background for graduate work
- English language proficiency
PhD with Canadian or US credentials
- Master’s degree with overall average of B+ (UBC 76%)
- Sufficient academic background for graduate work
- English language proficiency
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of Master’s study with 12 credits of first class average. Nine credits must be at the 500-level or above and 9 credits must be of first class standing. Applicants must have clear evidence of research ability/potential.
- Direct admission is available for applicants with a honours bachelor’s degree with an overall average of A and who demonstrates research ability/potential.
- International applicants should consult the UBC Graduate Programs website for country-specific requirements.

- Part-time, domestic: $6,753.96 per year
- Full-time, international: $7,200 per year
- Part-time, international: $12,420 per year
PhD
- Full-time, domestic: $7,878.30 per year
- Full-time, international: $14,440 per year
