Academic Requirements

  • BSc. in Physics, Astronomy, or Mathematics or a B.A.Sc. in Engineering Physics or Electrical Engineering
  • Sufficient academic background for graduate work
  • English language proficiency
  • Full course load
  • Must demonstrate research ability/potential
  • International applicants should consult the UBC Graduate Programs website for country-specific requirements.

GPA

  • Average GPA: 3.5 (80%)
    • B+ average in third and fourth year-level course work, or at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A- grade range (at UBC 80% or higher) in the field of intended graduate study
  • Direct transfer is available after completing 1 academic year in UBC’s Master’s program

MSc

  • Full-time, domestic: $3,939.16 per year
  • Part-time, domestic: $6,753.96 per year
  • Full-time, international: $7,200 per year
  • Part-time, international: $12,420 per year
