Admission Requirements
General
- The following requirements must be met in the order listed:
- 1. Acceptance by a supervisor (not required, but highly recommended)
- 2. Application to the Faculty of Graduate studies and acceptance by the Cell and Developmental Biology Graduate Studies Committee

Academic Requirements
MSc
- Must have a bachelor’s degree
- 12 credits of 3rd and 4th year courses with at least an A- (UBC 80%)
- OR, overall average of B+ (UBC 76%) in 3rd and 4th year courses deemed as prequisities for the master’s program
- English language proficiency
- Sufficient academic background to carry out graduate work
PhD
- Direct admission may be given to applicants with a bachelor’s degree with first class honours (or equivalent)
- OR, Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of study in a Master’s degree with 18 credits of First Class average, 9 credits must at the graduate level, and at least 9 credits of First Class standing. Applicants must also demonstrate evidence of research ability/potential.
- OR, Master’s degree with evidence of research ability/potential
Financial Requirements
Tuition 2012-2013
- International - $7,640.70 per year
- Domestic - $4,349.16 per year

- 2 copies of your transcript in sealed and endorsed envelopes
- Permanent Residents: a copy of the Record of Landing Form, or a copy of the front and back of the Permanent Resident Card

- International students need a study permit
- Applicants from countries where English is not generally used must complete a TOEFL test (minimum score: 600 paper, 250 computer-based).
