Admission Requirements

General

Academic Requirements

  • Honours degree in physics, engineering, mathematics, astronomy, geology or geophysics.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 in last 2 years.
  • GRE physics exam (not required but applicants are encouraged to take it and submit scores to the university).

Financial Requirements

  • Tuition information available at http://www.gradstudies.ualberta.ca/regfees/index.htm
  • For financial assistance, the department offers research and teaching assistantships, scholarships and fellowships.
  • With an assistantship, students can be expected to be supported approx. $20,000.

Documents

  • $100 application fee
  • Two official copies of transcript and degree certificate
  • CV/resume
  • Three reference letters mailed directly to the department
  • "Statement of purpose" describing research interests and goals

Other

  • Students should contact the faculty members they are interested in working with.

Deadlines

  • Jan 31st for admission in September of that year.
