Admission Requirements

Course and Degree Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent from a recognized university
    • A qualifying year (QY) is a prerequisite for those with degrees other than the B.Sc. OT/PT from McGill University.
    • Students may apply for the M.Sc. program after successful completion of the QY with a minimum cGPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Minimum B standing, equivalent to a McGill cGPA of 3.0 (70-74%)

Supporting Documents

  • Letter from a health care or rehabilitation facility confirming your completion of 50 hours volunteer/paid work involving occupational/physical therapy
  • Two original official transcripts for every university program
  • Two letters of reference from academic or work-related individuals

Other Requirements

  • Interviews held in April, May, and June
  • GRE is recommended for applicants:
    • who do not have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a Canadian university
    • who have not been in university for more than 5 years
    • minimum score of 550 in verbal and quantitative categories
    • minimum score of 3.5-4 in analytical categories
  • Non-Canadian applicants, whose mother tongue is not English, and have not completed a university degree in English, must demonstrate English Language Proficiency in one of the following tests.
    • TOEFL:
      • Internet based test: 100 (at least 20 in each component)
      • Computer-based test: 250
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 7.0
  • Knowledge of French is highly recommended due to several Francophone clinical placements
