Admission Requirements

General Notes

  • All applicants must register with the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS) and have all undergraduate and graduate transcripts sent to LSAC.
  • Foreign transcripts must be submitted through the LSAC JD Credential Assembly Service (CAS).
  • Applicants can apply electronically or on paper.

Criteria

Required classes

  • Must hold or expect to hold a bachelor's degree prior to September of the entry year

GPA

There are no minimum cut-offs for GPA.

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)

  • All applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).
  • There are no minimum cut-offs for LSAT scores.
  • The LSAT need be taken only once within the five years preceding the year to which you apply to enter.
  • You are recommended to take the LSAT in June or September/October in the calendar year prior to the year the class to which you apply will enter (eg, the June or September/October 2007 LSAT for the 2008 entering class).
  • You may take the December LSAT, and the results will be available prior to the February application deadline.

  • Recommendation Form
    • Two letters of recommendation are required.
    • It is best for at least one letter to come from a faculty member who can address your academic and scholarly abilities.

Interview

  • 1000 to 1200 applicants are invited for phone interviews after their applications are reviewed
  • Phone interviews are typically 8 to 10 minute conversations where the dean of admissions asks applicants about elements of their application.

Admission

  • Applicants who are granted admission will be notified immediately.
  • All applicants should be notified by late April.
  • No computational methods are used for making admission decisions and there are no mechanical shortcuts. Each application is reviewed carefully and individually.
  • Once an application is received, an email is sent to the applicant requesting the LSDAS report. This can take up to 3 or 4 weeks from the date the application is submitted.

Deadlines

  • Application deadline: February 1.
  • The students are recommended to apply as soon as possible after September 15.
  • Applications will be accepted after the deadline until the time when full consideration cannot be permitted anymore.
  • The committee begins reviewing applications in November.

Tuition

  • Tuition for 2006 and 2007 is $37,100
  • Standard single student budget for room, board, medical fees, books and supplies, personal and travel expenses is $22,200.
